We are now in our fourth year. At this years Whole Horse Weekend there will be 3 areas of interest - The permanent Horse Agility course -  open to everyone, the main ring-  with trainers and action demo's and  the indoor school for experts on dentistry, hoof care, physiotherapists/massage, saddle fitting etc.
You will be able to take your horse for an MOT.
More things will follow when we have them. Watch this space.
On the Saturday night we have a party around a bonfire, where we reflect on the days activities, meet new friends or even meet up with old ones.
There's food, beer and music available around the bonfire.

More people will be added once we have information about them, so we do ask you to bear with us.
DUE TO UNFORSEEN CIRCUMSTANCES  Adam is unable to attend this years event, we hope he is able to come next year.

Louise Talintyre and Copy will be demonstrating Western Riding over The Whole Horse Weekend.

Copy’s Story

Hi, my name’s Jays Master Copy. ‘Copy’ to my friends.

I was born in America but now consider myself a naturalised Brit. I even
have a passport. I am an American Quarter Horse with some fine parents, both
of whom are wonderful show horses, successful in their own right.

I went to school in the heart of horse country, Texas, where I graduated
with some really good grades. My GAP year took me to the UK where I settled
in quickly. My sporting prowess caught the attention of the British team
selectors who decided that I should go as a member of the British team to
the World Equestrian Games in Jerez, Spain. I did really well over there.
All my hard work and practice paid off and I was the highest scoring UK
horse in our event.

Unfortunately on my way back from Spain I sustained an injury and despite
visiting the best consultants I found I could not regain my soundness for
long periods. My foster parents at the time eventually decided after four
years of trying to get me on the road again that I should retire. That’s how
I ended up living at my new home with Lou and John from The Mendip Stud.
They gave me a year off and in that time one of the specialists found a
blackthorn close to my fetlock. It had entered higher in the leg and
travelled downward. I was lucky it hadn’t got any deeper. Apparently it had
been there for a number of years and could well have been the cause of my
problems.

My best friend Lou brought helped me recover from the operation. She nursed
me back into work very slowly and only last year I had the chance to say
thanks by helping her to win the British Amateur Limited Open Reining
Championship.

I was poddling around at home one day when John got a phone call from Kelly
Marks asking if he knew of a horse that Monty Roberts could take on tour
later that year. Bless his cottons John came up quick as a flash with my
name.

So Monty came for lunch. Straightaway he and I got on like a house on fire.
We’re both into the years when we should be sitting at home retired but both
enjoy and thrive on work, team building and good communication. I knew
instantly that we would get on and that above all we respected each other.
We had a common bond born out of a desire to work as partners, willing ones.

I also knew I was dealing with someone very special and who, I knew, I would
be able to spend hours of my time enjoying his company and care. I had a
sneaky suspicion that he felt the same about me.

I am really looking forward to working with Monty again this year.....but
first Lou and I will be working hard over the summer spreading the message
of how much fun Western Riding can be and encouraging everyone to give it a
try.
All the best,
Copy
PS - I’m the one with four legs

Simon Muholland has confirmed he will be attending the Whole Horse Weekend this year

Picture

Simon Mulholland will be joining us for the 4th year, demonstrating the Mk 10 Saddlechariot, the new flat pack version which grew out of Simons insanity of a spring loaded version both of which will be demonstrated in Simons unique way and the totally outstanding and amazing iBex all with the unique quick release system. The versatile iBex was originally designed to take a wheelchair and give the user total independance but is equally at home with any user, suitable for all terrains it will carry 2 people easily,
a bale of hay or your weekly shop, it is as much fun as the saddlechariot but with 3 wheels and the added benefit of not having to step off if the quick release is pulled. His assistant will again be Obama, doing as he wants as normal, but the two of them always make good entertainment and Simon always has plenty of time to chat.

If you already own a saddlechariot, bring it along with your pony, join in the fun and make a weekend of it.

Lafayette Equine Therapy  have confirmed they are attending The Whole Horse Weekend
Due to unforeseen circumstances Elaine Tyley has had to cancel.

Picture

My name is Elaine Tyley and I live in the beautiful rolling hills of Dorset.  I am a natural equine healer and communicator, this is something that I have done all my life, but, in 2000 I fell into a depression.
I went onto medication and therapy but the thing that helped me the most was my horses.
I realised how the change in me affected my horses and have spent since 2000 studying our beautiful equine friends.  I studied with Bill Harrison and The Healing International Network and became a qualified equine healer this enabled me to understand my natural ability and use it in the best way that I could.  I have studied how the horses communicate using their body energy, how connected they are to mother nature and their amazing ability to forgive the human race and let us try again.  I studied how the horses are such a fantastic healer to people suffering with stress, depression, anxiety etc and how just being in the company of these beautiful animals people feel a calmness come over them, the likes of which they have never experienced before.
During this time I spent a lot of time Healing and helping horses who are greatly misunderstood and improving the lives of the horses that I met on my way.I related to the anger the horses expressed the confusion and sullenness of their low headed stares. The more time I spent with the horses by this I mean out in the fields with them running free the more I learned how to read their body language and I found a way to communicate with them not only through my healing but also in their own language through body energy.   The more I understood them the more passionate I became about helping others to understand their horses.  To work with them not against and to understand how their every mood and emotion will affect their horse.
I have now started Lafayette Equine Therapy to enable others to study and help the horses and to voice the horses voice

Emmaline Pell- McTimoney Practitioner has confirmed she is attending.

Picture
I personally enjoy learning about the person behind the practitioner so I’ve included a little insight into my story so far.
After many dedicated years of selling toys and collecting pocket money I saved enough to buy my first pony at the young age of ten, which was one of the best and as you horse owners know one of the most expensive things I have ever done.  It is through having my own pony Sprite treated over the years that originally inspired me to become a McTimoney practitioner.  Watching Sprite respond so positively, both mentally and physically to the treatment really intrigued me as to how McTimoney worked and from then on I decided I wanted to help animals in this way, so thank you Sprite!
I am one of those lucky people who have been able to fulfill my dream career of working with animals. It's been hard work but is 100% worth it as I personally find it very rewarding.  I'll give you a whistle stop tour of my journey in becoming a McTimoney practitioner for those of you who may want to follow a similar career path.  To begin with I completed my National Diploma in Equine Science at Hartpury College, which I then progressed onto completing a BSc (Hons) Degree in Equine Science. Both courses were just stepping stones to move onto achieving the final goal and accomplishing a Masters degree in McTimoney.  Alongside studying, I decided to the complete the Advanced Merisha Equine and Canine Massage course.

I believe the sports massage technique is most effective for animals as well as it complimenting other therapies such as McTimoney to ultimately provide a holistic (whole body) treatment.
Years of treating horses and dogs have given me the practical experience needed to provide an overall positive and effective treatment.  A combination of the treatment and educating the owner result in an improvement in the animal’s wellbeing.
One thing that did shock me while studying is the low percentage of public awareness and knowledge of the existence of McTimoney. This surprises me as human athletes incorporate complementary therapies, including McTimoney, into the training routine without question.  However, for its application to our Equine and Canine athletes it is unheard of.  Therefore; this has inspired me educate and enlighten you on all aspects of McTimoney in hope you can relate it to your own animal/s.
What is McTimoney…?
McTimoney is a complementary therapy that focuses on the Central Nervous System (CNS), which runs through the spinal vertebrae.  Its primary function is to relay messages from the brain to the rest of the body; therefore if the CNS cannot fully function it can negatively impact on the body as a whole.  Misalignments and asymmetries throughout the spine and pelvis are a common cause of this.  A misalignment/s describes an individual or a series of vertebrae that become stuck within their natural range of movement.

This can cause the nerves travelling through the vertebrae to become either stretched or impinged, which ultimately prevents them functioning optimally.

The pelvis can become rotated or tilted on its spinal axis, which again has a negative influence on the body as a whole.
McTimoney uses very quick, light and accurate adjustments using only the hands to correct the asymmetries and misalignments and eliminate any other influencing factors. Therefore; McTimoney is considered a holistic treatment and is often readily accepted and appreciated by animals.  It is very rewarding to watch their reactions to the treatment.
I have included a list of a few symptoms and causes of misalignments/asymmetries below as they do not usually present themselves as people would expect and so hopefully it will be useful for you as you may be able to relate to some.  Also I felt it useful to list the causes, as sometimes they are factors that are taken for granted or ignored in general management.
Causes:
-Trip or fall
-Badly fitting tack
-Poor shoeing
-Dental problems
-Secondary to another injury/ailment
-Unbalanced rider
-Repetitive strain injuries through continuous training exercises
-Pulling on a lead or playing with other dogs
-General every day wear and tear
Symptoms:
-Lameness/stiffness
-Drop in performance (stopping at jumps, knocking jumps)
-Favouring one rein
-Not wanting to go forward
-Muscle atrophy/asymmetry
-Lack of flexion/suppleness
-Stiffness when getting up and down
-Not wanting to play
-Behavioural issues (tiredness, aggressiveness when tacking up, bucking, rearing, nervousness)
Symptoms of discomfort may not always become apparent until they are quite bad as horses are incredible creatures that will tolerate an awful lot before you notice and dogs are just so happy and excitable that adrenaline takes over which masks symptoms.

I do hope you will consider McTimoney for your animals as more often than not there is always an opportunity of making your animal more comfortable and improve their overall well being by using prevention rather than cure.
